The RSP Gives Back

Beginning in 2012, I will be donating 10 percent of every Rookie Scouting Portfolio purchase to charity. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time.  I am using Charity Navigator to guide my decision and I have narrowed it to a handful of organizations that have earned at least three stars for their organizational efficiency. I had been asking for readers’ help to decide the charities, but once the Penn State scandal broke, I decided to send the funds to the program Darkness to Light.

Darkness to Light – Excerpt from their mission statement: “Darkness to Light is a national organization and initiative. Our mission is to empower people to prevent child sexual abuse. Darkness to Light’s public awareness campaign seeks to raise awareness of the prevalence and consequences of child sexual abuse.”

  1. Very cool that you’re doing this, Matt. Good on ya. No surprise seeing the arts represented, and no surprise seeing the way the voting’s going. (I went with the Nicholas House, too. In these times, how can you not? And I’m up to my eyes in the arts.)

Greg Pruitt. A rookie Dan Fouts. 🙂

  2. Glad you noticed the rookie Dan Fouts. I love these old clips. They got me interested in the game as a kid. What’s nice about this vote is I may just split the money up according to the percentage of votes for each organization. Then I can give to them all on some level. Every penny helps.
