Matt Waldman’s RSP Boiler Room examines 2022 NFL Draft prospect, Gerrit Prince, a productive tight end from UAB who has notable speed for his position.
A former community college wide receiver, Prince has compelling speed for an H-Back. This touchdown run against North Texas illustrates Prince’s speed, vision, and skill to maintain this speed while weaving through the defense on a long run.
As is often the case with H-Back prospects, there are lingering questions about his future potential in the NFL. Can he gain enough wait to function as an H-Back near the line of scrimmage? If Prince can’t gain weight, is he fast enough to become a contributor as a utility receiver? Kyle Granson. Stephen Anderson, and Tre Burton come to mind.
If Prince is a sleeper, it’s likely from the perspective of the media draftnik thinking about a player who might make a team and contribute on special teams or have a small niche role on offense. However, if Prince shows that his speed is on par with a perimeter receiver, that could change everything.
Based on plays like the one below, Prince’s workouts will be worth keeping an eye on.
