The Rookie Scouting Portfolio’s Mark Schofield and Matt Waldman share plays and compare notes on 2019 NFL Draft prospect, QB Jarrett Stidham of Auburn.
Sometimes you just have a good rapport with someone on-air. One of those people for me is former Wesleyan quarterback and RSP Writer Mark Schofield. We’ve decided to do regular RSP Film Rooms to take advantage of it.
Mark’s first choice for our series of shows was Stidham. We spend about 45 minutes comparing notes and sharing plays that highlight numerous facets of his game that are positives and opportunities for improvement:
- Quick and precise footwork.
- Smooth timing when transitioning from one process to another.
- Willingness to target challenging windows in the middle of the field.
- When he’s too aggressive.
- When he’s too tentative.
- What we want to see from his 2018 tape.
We also spend the final 10-15 minutes talking about some crossing routes Stidham delivered that relates to Reuben Foster’s coverage on this play, good and bad offensive fits for Stidham (at this point) in the NFL, and share our thoughts on the Oakland Raider’s offensive outlook.
