Zach Betz joins Matt Waldman’s RSP Cast for a discussion about the Air Raid scheme, the Cardinals offense, and Kliff Kingsbury.
Betz (@alltwentytwo on Twitter) has spent a lot of time studying two schemes: Sean McVay’s outside zone scheme in L.A. and variations of the Air Raid used by Hal Mumme, Mike Leach, and Kliff Kingsbury. With Kingsbury’s arrival in Arizona, I invited Betz to share his thoughts on Kingsbury’s version of the Air Raid, his coaching prowess, and the outlook for the Arizona Cardinals offense.
Topics:
- The Air Raid isn’t new to the NFL.
- Kingsbury’s creativity with formations and personnel usage sets him apart.
- Why “playground ball” is a good thing.
- Should we be concerned about the Cardinals offensive line?
- Thoughts on Hakeem Butler and Andy Isabella’s futures in this offense.
- Why David Johnson should see an offensive resurgence.
- Kingsbury’s weaknesses as a coach.
- An extended conversation on coaching and management.
