Dallas Morning News football analyst John Owning returns to the RSP Cast for a preview of the linemen participating in the Senior Bowl and then Owning flips the script to ask Matt Waldman questions about the skill talent.
John Owning is one of my favorite analysts. He has a terrific grasp of the technical and strategic requirements of football in the trenches. He’s also an instructor and international competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which adds to his understanding of leverage, grappling, hand-fighting, and competing in high-pressure situations.
Owning re-joins the program on location in Mobile for the Senior Bowl. We took turns asking each other questions about the players:
- Who we’re interested in watching along the offensive line, defensive line, and offensive skill positions.
- What we want to see from these players.
- The benefits and detriments of specific drills during practice that could illuminate or cloud our insights.
This is an hour that covers a ton of ground on a lot of players and highlights a lot of technical skill, athletic movement, and how to use the practice sessions to learn about these players within a healthy context.
