Matt Waldman’s RSP Listens: (July 27, 2018)

Matt Waldman’s Reads Listens Views is back in a slightly new form. This post is devoted to recommended reads of the week.

If you’re new to the Rookie Scouting Portfolio blog, welcome.  For years, I used to post links to pieces that I’ve found personally compelling or to content I hope will eventually scratch that itch when I get around to reading it.

After a two-year break, Reads Listens Views returns. You may not like everything listed here, but you’re bound to like something.

I never heard fo a cas cas until this week. One of my Facebook friends had the video. Sorry, I don’t remember who it was so I can’t give you credit (but thanks).

Imagine a rainy Sunday afternoon after a good meal with nothing to do but lounge on the couch and enjoy a peaceful hour. If you can, do it with this Dexter Gordon album and you’ll be chill for the rest of the day.

Gordon’s sound was influential for many saxophone players. He has a rich, stately tone and it complements the way he plays just a bit behind the beat. The combination is pure swag.
