RSP Film Room No.72: WR Dede Westbrook (Oklahoma)

dede-westbrook

Oklahoma WR Dede Westbrook is one of the better 2017 NFL receiver prospects in this class, and  one of its smallest.

If two players are equal in every way with the exception of height, I’ll choose the taller one. Choosing players is not like selecting a car.

NFL players don’t roll off the line at a factory and they aren’t columns on an Excel spreadsheet. Based on my experience, what’s a more likely statement about two players at the same position goes like this…

If I have to choose between two players with similar athletic ability, but different physical dimensions, I’ll take the player that has displayed the most effective integration of his athletic skills in unpredictable situations.

Dede Westbrook is one of these players whose integration of skills will break ties for me when ranking wide receivers this spring. The trio of plays in this Boiler Room should give you a preview of my case.

Westbrook is a versatile, tough, smart football player. His play at Oklahoma projects well to the NFL.
