RSP Boiler Room No. 28: TCU WR Kolby Listenbee

Kolby Listenbee

A 4.35-second 40 means you can beat most cornerbacks in a race. Football isn’t racing. Two plays of Listenbee’s reveals two things that can make a deep threat dangerous or render him ineffective.

Outrunning defenders is only a part of the equation of becoming an effective deep threat in the NFL. Professional defensive backs aren’t going to give receivers like Listenbee a clean runway to reach full speed. If they do, there’s little guarantee the quarterback will have the time to make the throw.

Safeties will also have a say. Watch Listenbee display the hand-eye coordination and rebounding prowess that every deep threat should have and learn why the first 5-7 yards of a route are the most vital for a gaining separation..
